Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) EPChem supplies a range of polyethylene and polymethylene based waxes to be used as nucleating agent in the polymerisation stage of EPS production. The most popular grade for this application by far has been Viscowax V115 by Innospec. The performance of the premium non-polar homopolymer Viscowax like V115 exceeds the requirements of general nucleation agents. It has excellent physical incompatibility with the polymer matrix and at the same time good chemical compatibility with the blowing agent. It crystallizes particles effectively and provides thoroughdispersibility in the polymerization batch. Gum Base Wax is an essential ingredient in the gum base formulation which serves to enhance the consistency, appearance and processability of the gum base. We have a range of Sasol's high quality, food grade microcrystalline and FT waxes with a range of penetrations for the specific requirements of your gum base formulation. For hardness regulation in gum bases, we recommend Sasolwax 0907, 1800, 3279 and 3971 microcrystalline waxes. We also provide SasolwaxH1 and C80 which are food grade, FT waxes. We also provide synthetic wax from Shell (Sarawax SX70S) which can be used for the compounding of food grade paraffin wax. Shell’s synthetic wax production is in compliance with GMP standard. Paving & Roofing Bitumen is the most cost effective thermoplastic material used in the construction industry for many applications including roads, roofing, bridge joints etc. However, bitumen on its own is very susceptible to change and various deformation under temperature changes. EPChem offers a range of bitumen and bitumen additives that will improve the performance and versatility of your bitumen constructions. These include refinery bitumen, mineral bitumen, Styrene- Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) polymers, crosslinking agent and solvents. The bitumen additives we offer serve to increase the softening point and reduce penetration of your bitumen. Our range of Styrenic Block Copolymers (SBCs) can enhance the performance of bitumen used in roads, racetracks and roofing applications, especially Kraton D Polymers (D1101, D1184, D1192) and Kraton G Polymers (G1643, G1652). Life expectancy is improved and maintenance level is reduced. Addition of Kraton polymer produces far superior properties to the modified bitumen. In particular, bitumen modified with Kraton polymers improves both its high and low temperature performance. EPChem also provide a range of fully synthetic solvents with low volatility that can be engaged in paving and roofing applications under the brand of EPISOL. MDF Board Wax is one of the key materials used in the production of Medium Density Fibre (MDF) board. Wax, in the molten or emulsion form, is introduced to provide water repellency in the final product.
